Hi Guys,

Ricky hope you and the new arrival are doing well. The rarity of some of the gloves is a mystery. How many of certain gloves really do exist. Perhaps, if JD's website continues to grow we shall see an appoximation of how many of what gloves/mitts are out there, but I am thinking there are a few of these collectors that may have some gloves that we shall never hear about or see due to the privacy of the collector.

But, as you guys were saying, those of who have been watching the ebay trail on gloves for several years should have some idea of how often these gloves surface. The King patent glove is a neat one and who can't resist the cp gloves.

Availability, rarity and desirability seems to all play an importance in the mystery question. Hypothetically, if we have watched the market for 10 years and not seen certain styles and types of gloves/mitts but on rare occassions, one might think that, in itself, may make the glove rare. I guess my thought on this is that if some private collector has 100 crescent padded fielders gloves sitting in his/her den (I wish) then that would impact how we might view the rarity of the gloves, once we find that info out. I would think that if we knew there were 100 of these cps in someones collection that we might view the cp as not too rare, but that some person was really good at hording them up. If that collector does not release these gloves back into the market for the next 25 years, then we might as well count them as unavailable to our collections. In this instance, would they be rare, based on count, not really, but we will likely not see them in others collections either.

Anyway, I guess for discussion purposes, we may find JD's website as our best guage for how many of what is really out there. Once we see several of the same style on JD's website, it would help eliminate the rarity of the glove as they continue to surface. An interesting topic.
